The blooms of 'Vulcan' are fully 10 to 12 inches across, arising in early to mid-spring. You won't have to wait very long to begin enjoying them either, because this tree starts blossoming at a very young age! Vigorous and easy to grow, it reaches 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide in 10 years. As it matures, it becomes less open-branched and more broadly dense.
'Vulcan' was bred in New Zealand by renowned Magnolia expert Felix Jury. This Magnolia is quite cold-hardy, and thrives in nearly any type of soil. Trees should be planted 8 to 10 feet apart for dense, even coverage. Zones 5-9.
