Description / Narcissus Chromacolor Daffodil Bulbs
Plant Narcissus Chromacolor Daffodil Bulbs in early to mid-fall, and in mid-spring they bloom in large 5-inch flowers with clear white petals and a collar that is pink or salmon-pink in warmer spring temperatures but have more orange tones in cooler temperatures. Sweetly scented, the fragrant flowers smell of roses or raspberries, beckon to early emerging bees, and make charming spring bouquets and floral arrangements.
A Narcissus hybrid, commonly called large-cupped daffodil, Chromacolor has an upright habit and grows 18 to 20 inches tall. It naturalizes easily, with its long, strap-like foliage and showy blooms reappearing year after year in ideal conditions. Best planted in groups or masses, daffodils are versatile plants that work equally well in mixed flowerbeds, borders, and patio pots. They are quite impressive when planted in large sweeping drifts in open woodland areas, in masses under deciduous trees, and in smaller groupings in front of shrubs. In the garden, daffodils mix well with ground covers and other spring-blooming bulbs but can also be forced for indoor blooms in winter.
Narcissus Chromacolor is cold hardy to Zone 3. Easy to grow and maintain, it grows best in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. The plant adapts to all soil types and resists deer. Deadhead spent blooms immediately but allow foliage to die back naturally and only cut back when fully faded.
