Description / Outrageous Floribunda Rose

Paint your landscape an outrageous shade of orange this season. Outrageous is remarkable for its compact growth habit, big tangerine-colored flowers, strong fragrance, and good disease resistance. The fantastically bright orange blooms make a great accent in the garden and create an unparalleled visual impact when grown in groups.

Each petal is painted a salmon orange and tinged by the yellow on their reverse. These fully double blooms pack in about 30 colorful petals and spread about 4 inches wide, making them impressive cut-flowers, which also happen to last well in the vase. This floriferous floribunda blooms repeatedly in waves, starting in late spring and continuing all the way into early fall.

Resistant to mildew and rust, this trouble-free variety thrives under normal garden conditions. Bred by Jackson and Perkins in 1998, Outrageous is a child of another JP favorite: Summer Fashion. Outrageous gets its two-toned pattern from its parent, except Outrageous uses decidedly less subtle colors.

The habit is upright and spreading, creating a lovely shape to prominently display the vibrant blooms. Because it is very thorny, this shrub should be grown in borders and corners of the yard. Plant Outrageous in a well-drained spot that receives full sun. In the spring it should be pruned to remove old or diseased wood and reduce the height by about one-third (or more in colder climates). In cold climates, provide spring frost protection.
