Pennisetum Burgundy Bunny

Pennisetum 'Burgundy Bunny' is an accent plant for small space gardens or containers. Because it blooms continuously from early summer through mid-fall, it makes it an ornamental addition to any outdoor area. And the foliage is attractive year-round.

This sport of 'Bunny Tails' offers the same creamy, light-as-air blooms as its parent, but with foliage streaked and flushed with red from spring through summer, then burgundy in autumn and winter. So colorful, and so compact, Pennisetum 'Burgundy Bunny' is a dwarf selection, reaching just 12 to 16 inches high and 16 inches wide at full maturity.

Happy in hot, dry settings and quite tolerant of poor soil, Pennisetum 'Burgundy Bunny' requires minimal care. This ornamental grass is also virtually disease free, and deer find it unappetizing, so you can plant it fearlessly in open garden locations, sidewalk islands, and meadow settings. Poor soil doesn't bother it, and once established, it will tolerate a good amount of drought.

The color of the foliage changes throughout the season, and will vary depending upon the amount of sun the plant receives. The variegation is simply splendid, an ever-changing display unlike any other in the garden. You will love it! Zones 5-9.
