Pea-Like Flowers!

Perennials with pea-like flowers followed by pods, Baptisia is a genus in the legume family Fabaceae native to woodland and grassland in eastern and southern North America. Also known as Blue False Indigo, Baptisia develops spires of blue flowers in the late spring or early summer, though some hybrids are shades of yellow, purple and white. Both the flowers and the grey-black pods that follow are beautiful in bouquets and floral arrangements. Best in full sun, it matures to 3 to 4 feet in height.
