Description

Sempervivium 'Ruby Heart' boasts a bright red rosette with silvery green shading on its delicate leaf tips. This cultivar is a hybridized seedling of S. 'Silverine' and can actually grow quite large.

They need plenty of outdoor sunlight to show their best colors and maintain a tight rosette form. They thrive in gritty, well-draining soils and pots with drainage holes.

Sempervivum do most of their growing in the spring and summer and will thrive with weekly watering and afternoon shade if temperatures exceed 80F. They are incredibly frost hardy and will happily overwinter under an insulating blanket of snow. Protect from heavy rains and standing water to prevent rot.

These easy care plants are great for novice gardeners or anyone who wants to add a modern twist to their landscape. Get some for your garden today!

Sempervivum is comprised of one large rosette called the "hen" which sprouts many smaller rosettes around it called "chicks". As the plants age, the "hen" may die out and be replaced by the "chicks". Plants can be divided easily at any time by simply pulling up some of the "chicks" and replanting them elsewhere!
