Description / Prunus Easy As Pie™ Bush Cherry

A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrubs variety, Prunus Easy As Pie™ Bush Cherry is a compact deciduous shrub that reaches 3 to 4½ feet tall and wide. It fits beautifully into an edible landscape with its pretty pink and white spring flowers, red mid to late summer berries, and vivid yellow and orange fall foliage. It not only looks beautiful all season long but also provides bowls and bowls of tasty cherries, with no second plant needed for pollination. The cherries have a juicy, very tart flavor and are good for cooking, baking, and canning. And the pollinator-friendly flowers bring bunches of bees and butterflies to the garden.

A Prunus hybrid, commonly called bush cherry, Easy As Pie is a space-saving edible that requires only a fraction of the space as a cherry tree, making it perfect for small-space urban gardens and containers. Use it as a specimen in beds and borders or plant en masse for a lovely and productive fruiting hedge.

An easy-grow, easy-care cherry bush, Easy As Pie is cold hardy to Zone 3 and is not plagued with the disease issues of most cherry trees, so it requires no spraying. It grows best in a sunny spot in the garden or landscape with moist, freely draining soil; but it grows well in most soils, including clay soils. And it requires no pruning.
