Description / Rosa Purple Tiger
Typically growing to a height of 2 feet, its matte green foliage is the perfect backdrop to the loosely semi-double purple and white blooms. It makes a stunning specimen planting or in small groups in borders, foundations, cottage gardens, or amidst your other roses.
Purple Tiger is best grown in medium-moisture, well-drained, loamy soil, preferably in full sun. Although it will handle some shade, its best disease resistance and flowering do occur in full sun.
Prune Purple Tiger in spring, removing old canes and dead or diseased wood and cutting back any canes that cross. Gardeners in warmer climates should cut back the remaining canes by about one third, and those in colder areas may need to prune a bit more. Purple Tiger does require spring freeze protection. If grown in a container, it will need winter protection.
