Description

The 'Caroline' raspberry plant is famous for its huge, sweet berries that are produced by the bucket-full. An ever-bearing and self-pollinating variety, 'Caroline' will start offering up berries in its first year, starting in June and continuing right until the first frost. Pink blossoms begin dotting the canes in spring, and after that the rich, red berries just keep coming. Gardening zones 4 through 8 are ideal, it has low chill requirements, and the plant prefers full sun and well-drained soil in order to perform its best. Exceptionally heat tolerant and disease resistant, this is a great plant for the first time gardener who wants a bounty of berries with little fuss. The 'Caroline' raspberry is the essence of summer with its plump, sweet berries.

Capture the spirit of summer with Caroline Raspberry!

Raspberries like full sun and good air circulation. They do best in enriched garden soil that is moisture retentive but well-drained. Plant about 3 feet apart in the row, or train up a trellis. Plant about 1 inch deep in heavy soils, 2 inches in loose, sandy soils. For best growth, cut back immediately after planting, to prevent the plant from setting fruit the first year. This will give you much stronger growth and better harvests in years to come. Water well during growth, and consider mulching to conserve water until the following spring, when the mulch should be removed to let the plants warm up.
