Description / Rosa Scepter'd Isle™

The height of refined elegance, Scepter'd Isle™ is an exceptional David Austin® English shrub rose that freely flowers in flushes from early summer to first frost. Its clusters of deeply cupped flowers are borne on strong, woody stems, holding them gracefully and reliably upright aloft large dark green leaves. Reaching between 3 and 4 inches, the full, bonny blooms boast 45 shell-pink petals and open flat to reveal a sunny spot of yellow stamens. With a divine hot and heady fragrance, Scepter'd Isle emits heavy notes of sandalwood, leather, frankincense, and myrrh that perfume a room from a vase or waft through the garden, attracting bees.

Scepter'd Isle is a large, robust shrub that grows to a mature size of approximately 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide. It thrives in full or partial sun and resists disease. Scepter'd Isle is an absolute must-have in a cutting garden, but it?s a cottage garden favorite, perfect for a mixed bed or border, especially accompanied by timeless treasures like black-eyed susans, coneflowers, delphiniums, foxgloves, geranium, peonies, and an array of herbs, but the pale purple colors of alliums are particularly pretty alongside the pale pink roses.

Pulled from the pages of Shakespeare's Richard II, the name Scepter'd Isle expresses John of Gaunt's love of England.
