Symphoricarpos Pinky Promise™ Snowberry
Description / Symphoricarpos Pinky Promise™ Snowberry
A Bloomin' Easy® variety, Pinky Promise™ is a small native deciduous shrub, typically growing 3 to 4 feet tall and wide. Small bell-shaped flowers, set against a sea of mint-green leaves, bloom in late spring, attracting bees and butterflies, followed by abundant clusters of ornamental gumball pink berries in late summer to early fall.
A Symphoricarpos doorenbosii, commonly called snowberry or coral berry, Pinky Promise has a compact, mounding habit that's a perfect fit for a patio pot. But Pinky Promise also makes a great garden bed, shrub border, or hedge plant. It's a natural for a wildlife garden and a good option for lining walkways in a cottage garden.
Snowberry shrubs grow best in locations with 6 or more hours of full sun a day and medium moist, well-draining soil, but they adapt to a wide range of soils. They're cold hardy to Zone 3, tolerating temperatures down to -40°F (-40°C), and deer resistant.
A native plant, snowberry shrubs are indigenous to North America. Native plants are not only beautiful but also environmentally friendly. Naturally adapted to the climate and soil conditions of the region, they thrive without fertilizers or extra watering, once established. They also act as natural pest controls, reducing the need for pesticides in the garden. Landscaping with native plants promotes biodiversity and provides shelter and quality food for wildlife and pollinators, bringing gardens to life.
