Description / Viburnum Spice Cowboy™ Snowball Bush

A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrubs variety, Viburnum Spice Cowboy™ Snowball Bush is an attractive shrub typically grown for its wow-factor flowers, but it really does have it all. Maturing to between 6 and 10 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide, this head-turner can be grown as a large deciduous shrub or trained as a small tree, giving it some nice versatility in the landscape. The flowers are truly remarkable. Borne in large clusters, they grace the shrub in spring and look like giant snowballs. The highly fragrant flowers perfume the air with a delicious spicy-sweet scent. But the show doesn't stop there. In fall, its seasonally green foliage takes on brilliant orange-red hues for a spectacular finish.

Spice Cowboy is a Viburnum carlesii species, commonly called snowball bush or Koreanspice viburnum. The shrub has an upright habit and fast growth rate. It's a gorgeous specimen plant for beds, borders, and foundations but is truly eye-catching when mass planted in a decorative, flowering hedge.

Plant Spice Cowboy snowball bush in a sunny to partly sunny spot. It grows easily in most moist soils, including clay, as long as it drains freely. This snowball bush is cold hardy to Zone 4 and deer resistant. It blooms on old wood, so any desired pruning must be done immediately after flowering to avoid cutting off next year's flower buds.
