Weigela Afterglow™
Description / Weigela Afterglow™
A Bloomin' Easy® variety, Afterglow™ is a deciduous shrub that typically grows 3 to 4 feet tall and wide. Afterglow is a naturally tidy shrub flaunting sleek dark foliage that's shrouded under a veil of cream and pink blooms in spring. The buzz-worthy bush attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds with the charming, tubular-shaped, pollinator-friendly flowers.
Afterglow is a freely branching shrub with a dense, compact habit. It makes an excellent specimen in garden or patio pot but is shown to best effect when grouped or massed in beds, borders, or landscapes. And it's perfect for a wildlife or pollinator garden.
Afterglow is easy to grow and maintain. It grows best in locations that get 6 or more hours of full sun and that has medium moist, well-draining soil. It is cold hardy to Zone 4 and can take temperatures down to -30°F (-34°C). After the last frost date in early spring, the shrub can be pruned to maintain a desired shape and size or trimmed to remove old seed pods and encourage healthy new foliage and a full display of flowers in the coming season. Afterglow is deer resistant and pet friendly.
