Allium Azureum Blue Globe Ornamental Onion Bulbs

Alliums are in the same family as garlic, onions, chives, and shallots, but ornamental alliums have beautiful blooms that add interesting shapes, colors, and textures to the garden. Alliums naturalize, so they're perfect for planting in large, sweeping drifts or clustering in mixed beds, borders, and containers. Mixed with muscari and anemones, allium is a good choice for a layered lasagna planting.

Cold hardy to Zone 4, easy to grow and maintain, Azureum Blue Globe ornamental onions grow best in a sunny to partially shady spot with freely draining soil having a slightly acidic pH. Allium bulbs do not like wet areas and may rot in soggy soils. Plant Azureum Blue Globe allium bulbs 6 to 12 inches apart and 4 to 6 inches deep and water well to settle bulbs. When growth starts to appear, feed bulbs with a well-balanced fertilizer. If flower production decreases over the years, dig, divide, and replant the bulbs. Ornamental onions are deer and rodent resistant.
