Description / Brunnera 'Jack Frost'
"A Brunnera like no other", the 'Jack Frost' heartleaf is visually stunning with sliver leaves that are veined with a rich, deep green. This beautiful plant adds a touch of dramatic charm to your shade garden and sports bright blue flowers in spring that further enhance its color.
Growing 12" to 15" tall, the 'Jack Frost' is low maintenance. It prefers partial shade and slightly acidic soil but is hardy and can tolerate the occasional cold snap as well as soil that is less fertile. It is a voluminous plant that plumps nicely, so if planting more than one be sure to space them 18" to 24" apart so as not to restrict the plant's dense form.
Other plants in the shade garden such as ferns or hellebores often bloom in tandem with the 'Jack Frost', making this brunnera a perfect complement to your existing flora. When paired with a Royal Heritage hellebore the results are amazing as the silver 'Jack Frost' leaves contrast wonderfully with the hellebore blooms. 'Jack Frost' thrives in moist, well-drained soil.

Beautiful even when neglected 0 people found this helpfulI planted one several years ago and am always delighted when I start my spring clean up and see this hardy little plant in bloom. When I said hardy, I mean it. I plant it and it must grow with my great expectations rather that lots of attention.

Very nice 0 people found this helpfulWe purchased two of the Jack Frost, we based our decision on the very helpful grow zone chart, and the fact that it would be quite shaded. They plant has not yet flowered, but it looks healthy and is growing. I love the white on the leaves! Another great purchase from Wayside.

superb in the semi-shade garden 0 people found this helpfulBrunnera, if planted in the right place and soil, is a fabulous addition to the shade garden - with a backdrop of tall ferns and in the company of shy Liriope or Pulmonaria.
