Description / Muscari Siberian Tiger® Grape Hyacinth Bulbs

Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit

Plant Muscari Siberian Tiger® grape hyacinth bulbs before the first frost in fall, and in mid-spring, they sprout narrow, strap-shaped basal leaves and soon bloom in small flower spikes with grape-like clusters of pure white florets that open from lime green buds and sit atop leafless stems, rising 6 to 8 inches tall. The fragrant flowers make nice cuts for small bunch bouquets and additions to floral displays. Muscari Siberian Tiger is a newer variety that's already winning prestigious awards.

A Muscari armeniacum variety, commonly called grape hyacinth, Siberian Tiger is a bulbous perennial that colonize and naturalize easily and self-seeds under ideal conditions. Grape hyacinth is perfect as underplanting for taller bulbs. It looks its best when grouped or massed in mixed beds, borders, and containers. And muscari is a great option for a layered lasagna planting with alliums and anemones.

Cold hardy to Zone 4, Muscari Siberian Tiger is easy to grow and thrives for years with little care or maintenance. Just plant Muscari Siberian Tiger bulbs 3 to 4 inches apart and 5 inches deep in a sunny to partially shady location with moist, free-draining soil, water well to settle bulbs, and feed with a feed bulbs with well-balanced fertilizer. Remove faded flowers immediately but allow foliage to die naturally and remove when fully wilted to a yellow/brown color. Leaves continue to absorb nourishment that feeds the bulb, benefiting future growth and blooming. Muscari Siberian Tiger is generally pest-free and deer and rodent resistant.
