Description / Narcissus Art Perfume Daffodil Bulbs
Plant Narcissus Art Perfume daffodil bulbs in autumn before the first frost, and in early to mid-spring this daffodil rises to a height of 12 to 16 inches and blooms in cheerful flowers with whorls of light yellow to white petals surrounding a tightly ruffled corona boasting layers and layers of tangerine orange petals with yellow accents. Borne in clusters on long, slender stems, the highly fragrant flowers attract pollinatorsincluding bees, butterflies, and hummingbirdsto the garden and make exceptionally beautiful cut flowers for seasonal bouquets.
A Narcissus tazetta, commonly called daffodil, Art Perfume has an upright habit. It naturalizes easily, with its long, strappy foliage and showy blooms appearing year after year, possibly for decades, in ideal conditions with adequate space, sunlight, water, and fertilizer. Best planted in groups or masses, daffodils are versatile plants that work equally well in mixed beds, borders, and containers. They're perfect for planting in large sweeping drifts in open woodland areas, in masses under deciduous trees, and in smaller groupings in front of shrubs. They mix well with ground cover and other spring-blooming bulbs in the garden but can also be forced for indoor blooms in winter.
Narcissus Art Perfume is a cold hardy (to Zone 3) bulbous perennial that grows easily in sunny to partly shady locations with rich, fertile, well-draining soil having a neutral to acidic pH. Daffodils prefer areas with cool winters and warm, dry summers, but they grow well in most USDA Hardiness Zones, as long as there is a discernable winter. When planting, be sure to allow adequate space between bulbs and plant them at the proper depth8 inches apart and 6 inches deep for Art Perfume. Daffodils are easy to maintain but will need to be watered during the growth period; just keep in mind, bulbs do not like soggy soils. For robust flowering during the current season as well as the following spring season, feed bulbs with a well-balanced fertilizer, such as Espoma Organic® Bulb-tone® Bulb and Flower Food, as soon as growth begins in spring. After flowers bloom, allow foliage to die back naturally and cut back once fully faded. Art Perfume daffodils are relatively pest-free, deer resistant, and tolerant of hot, dry sites.
