Description / Salvia Bodacious® 'Jammin Jazz' Ornamental Sage
Salvia Bodacious® 'Jammin Jazz' is a compact perennial (Zones 8-10) that grows to a mature size of 36 inches tall and wide and freely flowers throughout the season, from mid spring to late fall. The large, tubular flowers are saturated hot pink with deep chocolate-black calyx and stems, which hold them just above the foliage. Dark green, the leaves hold their color without yellowing, even in summer heat. The flowers are popular with all kinds of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
A Salvia x guaranitica, commonly called ornamental sage or anise-scented sage, 'Jammin Jazz' has moderate vigor and improved branching, giving the plant a tight, upright, rounded habit that's perfect for patio pots and modern landscapes. Grow as a specimen or mass plant in beds and borders. 'Jammin Jazz' is a must-have in a pollinator or hummingbird garden.
'Jammin Jazz' ornamental sage grows best in a sunny location but isn't picky about the soil type. Any average, well-draining soil will do. The plant is heat and drought tolerant and deer resistant. Ornamental sage is low maintenance but requires occasional pruning to shape and to encourage rebloom. Fertilize in spring.
